About Dr Kizhake C Kurian | Dr Kizhake Kurian qualified in Medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India. Subsequently, he completed a three-year residency programme in Internal Medicine from Medical University of Ohio, Toledo (www.utoledo.edu) and was soon certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He then undertook a three-year fellowship in heart failure and heart transplantation at Stanford University, California (http://www.stanford.edu). This was followed by two further fellowships – Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship at the University of Florida Health Science Centre (www.health.ufl.edu) and Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (www.temple.edu). Following this, he was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Central Florida Heart Group, Ocala, Florida.
Dr Kurian has maintained an excellent academic record throughout his career. He won the outstanding resident and the teaching excellence award for the year 2001 at the Medical College of Ohio. He was awarded the Dean’s research grant award in 2004 by University of Florida for his work on ‘Endothelial Progenitor Cells in Heart Failure’. In addition to presenting papers in various International conferences, he has authored many scientific papers in medicine and cardiology.
