CardiffUniversity ( School of Biosciences) and Doctors Academy with lecturers from University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport Description: In the final part of the MRCS exam, the surgical trainees are expected to have a good working knowledge of general physiological principles and core knowledge of the physiology of specific systems, and their application in surgical practice. This intensive revision course will provide the candidates with an overview of basic physiological principles, and the physiology of the respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, endocrine, gastrointestinal and the central nervous systems. The lectures will be delivered in a manner that will help the candidates answer the viva/OSCE stations in a structured, systematic and concise manner. The teaching will be delivered using a series of didactic and interactive lectures. The course takes into consideration the OSCE style and the speciality context of the examination introduced in September 2008.
