Dear Colleague,

A research project seeking to analyse and evaluate the quality and impact of teaching of anatomy on medical students and doctors is being run jointly by colleagues from the University of Cardiff, Doctors Academy and the University of Glamorgan for which your co-operation and support is sought.  It is envisaged that the findings and outcome of the project will both inform and impact positively on the teaching of anatomy to medical students and, subsequently, the usefulness of anatomy when practicing as doctors and surgeons. Ethical approval has been obtained from Cardiff University to undertake this project.

We would be most grateful if you could spare a few minutes of your time to complete the attached questionnaire.  We assure you that your responses will be treated with the strictest confidence and full anonymity will be preserved at all times.  Responses will only be available to members of the immediate research team.

You will note that most questions can be answered with a single response evaluation.  However, scope is also given for some questions to allow you to give a further explanation of your response.  Whilst we appreciate that providing a brief explanation may take more time, we would be extremely grateful if you were able to do that.  At the end of the study, if required, you will be provided with additional information and results obtained from the study.  We will also be happy to send a copy of the final research findings to anyone requesting them.

As a token of appreciation for completing the questionnaire, your details will be entered into a prize draw, out of which 10 candidates will be selected and provided with FREE access to the entire exam preparation database at www.doctorexams.co.uk.  Amongst this, five candidates will also receive an invitation voucher (FREE) to attend a revision course conducted by Doctors Academy (valid until 2012) or will be provided access (or to download mock vivas) in MP3 format from www.doctorvivas.com.

If you have any queries regarding this project, please feel free to contact any of the members in the research team via these email IDs: anatomysurvey@doctorsacademy.org.uk or stephenssg@cf.ac.uk.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation and support with this research project. Yours sincerely,

Research Team
