About Dr. Angharad Pritchard-Copley

Dr Angharad Pritchard-Copley graduated from Cardiff University Medical School, UK, in 2007. Prior to her medical education she read Physiological Sciences at Oxford University (www.ox.ac.uk). Whilst working at the academic Clinical Pharmacology Department at Oxford in 2002, Dr Pritchard-Copley co-authored a systematic review. In 2005, she won a bursary prize to attend the high profile Annual Biomedical Informatics European Conference (2006) in Harrogate, England. There she presented a co-authored paper and poster arising from the research undertaken during her elective programme. This work involved developing a Benchmarking Tool for a Biomedical Informatics undergraduate course established at St George's Medical School, London; a work that confirmed her interest in medical education.

Dr Pritchard-Copley is currently working as a Foundation Year 1 doctor in South Wales, UK. During her first year of work, she has been actively involved in teaching medical students, undertaken several hospital-based audits and is involved in developing a twinning programme with a medical centre in Sierra Leone. Dr Pritchard-Copley is a keen advocate of the principles of justice and the equality of medical opportunity and has been an active member of groups advocating the enduring principles of justice such as 'Speak!' and the Christian Medical Fellowship. She now seeks to apply what she has learned to advancing medical education in resource-poor settings and is thus delighted to have the opportunity to work with Doctors Academy
