About Dr. Eva-Lisa Heinrichs

Dr Eva-Lisa Heinrichs qualified in medicine (1982) from Helsinki University, Finland (www.med.helsinki.fi), having also previously obtained a diploma in nursing from Helsinki School of Nursing. After various hospital placements, she worked as a general practitioner and later as a consultant on health care management projects in the Finnish Hospital League, an organisation providing consulting services to the National Health Care System in Finland. Following this, she joined ConvaTec (www.convatec.com), the medical device division of the Bristol-Myers Squibb pharmaceutical group (www.bms.com); one of the global leaders in modern wound care and ostomy devices), and soon progressed to become its European Medical Director. During this time she was responsible for numerous clinical trials and studies related to non-healing wounds and wound care products (Please click here to read more).

In 2003, Dr Heinrichs joined the Wound Healing Research Unit as a Clinical Research Fellow during which time she undertook research related to Diabetic Foot Ulcers. On successful completion of her research she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) by Cardiff University, United Kingdom. Dr Heinrichs has an established clinical research portfolio, with particular interest in the prevention and management of diabetic foot ulcers. She has given invited lectures in various International meetings and conferences on topics related to wound healing and beyond. She is an editorial advisory board member of the International Wound Journal (www.blackwellpublishing.com/journals/iwj).
