| | | | | | | | | | | | | About Dr. Valentina Lefemine | Dr. Valentina Lefemine qualified with honours in Medicine and Surgery from The Sacred Heart Catholic University in Rome, Italy (2002). Following this, she commenced her postgraduate training in Surgery in the UK National Health Service and, after successfully completing her placements, passed her qualifying exams to become a Member of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England (MRCS). She is currently working as a Registrar in Surgery in the UK and intends to pursue a career in General and Breast Surgery. During her undergraduate training and later as a postgraduate trainee, she has been actively involved in research and academic activities. Her study on the role of surgery in obesity was accepted as a thesis (Study of laparoscopic gastric banding in obesity), which formed part of her medical degree. She has presented papers to many International conferences in both Italy and the UK, and published articles in scientific journals including the BMJ. As a Federazione Italiana pro Salutem et Vitam (F.I.S.a.V) coordinator, Dr Lefemine has been involved in organising and promoting exchange programmes for medical students from different European Medical Universities. She continues to maintain her interest in international exchange programmes, globalisation of medical knowledge and training, and to promote twinning projects between medical universities globally. |
