About Dr. Kevin Conway | Dr Kevin Conway qualified in Medicine from University of Cardiff, UK and gained the United States Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates during his pre-registration year. On completion of his basic surgical training in South-East Wales, he passed the qualifying exams to obtain memberships (MRCS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Ireland. Following this, he successfully completed the All-Wales Higher Surgical Training Programme and was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCSEd - General Surgery). Subsequently, he was appointed as a Consultant in General and Vascular Surgery at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, UK. During his Higher Surgical Training, he also undertook a two-year basic science research programme and was awarded a Medical Doctorate (MD) in Cell Biology by Cardiff University. Dr Conway has been actively involved in education and teaching throughout his surgical career. He has co-authored a number of surgical textbooks and has contributed to chapters in books. He has presented in excess of 20 scientific papers in various conferences in the UK, USA and Europe and published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals. Besides his clinical, academic and research activities, Dr Conway has taken an active role in various issues related to surgeons in training. During his surgical training, he was elected to be the Welsh representative to the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) (http://www.asit.org) for a two-year period. He was also appointed by ASiT to be the trainee representative to the Specialist Advisory Committee in General Surgery and he co-authored an innovative assessments tool in this speciality. |
